A mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide is supplied via a small nasal mask (with various selectable, pleasant fragrances). The concentration of laughing gas is individually adjusted and gradually increased until a pleasant and relaxed feeling is achieved. You decide when this state is reached (usually after about 4 to 5 minutes). After completion of the dental treatment, you will breathe oxygen for a few minutes until the effect of the nitrous oxide has completely dissipated. After that, you can leave the practice unaccompanied and unimpaired. The nitrous oxide helps to relax and reduce anxiety during dental treatment. Nitrous oxide sedation is a very safe procedure with few complications that is used millions of times worldwide. Therefore, please inform us about any medications you are taking, drugs, alcohol or sedatives and about existing diseases and surgeries. Recommended, to have a light meal before the treatment and not to eat or drink anything for about 2 hours before the appointment. Nitrous oxide sedation is not suitable for pregnant patients. Pregnant women should not be in the treatment room during the treatment.
